I Will Not Sell My Soul Poem by Abra Sunshine Wongler

I Will Not Sell My Soul

Slave to master, the salt of my sweat on my brow.'Faster! ' he cries as the sting of his whip racks through me.
The eyes of the daughter soothe my mind as she brings me water, for my flesh and soul.
Slave seventy am I, nothing to offer the masters daughter... nothing but my heart. The love that burns in me at night, she returns from the shadows.
Her touch steals the sting of her fathers whip.Love forbidden by chains of iron will never be broken.
This forbidden love discovered by my master.
Upon the spire expires my hearts desire as I am cast into demon lair. Protected for a time by arts taught to me by my love, I must go on.
Smaller minions aspire to tire and devour me. Shadow's cast by a demon large shade me.
'Be my compainion and I will keep you safe.' Following the the demon for nigh one hundred years, protected by his shadow, I cried for vengence.
'Give me your soul, I will give you vengence.' Title to my soul denied, wrath filled Lord of Demons curses my sight.
Stumbling in pain a saviour came to be and pulled me from the pits. Inside it was one hundred years. Outside the world had only aged three days.
The Seventh was my saviour, giving me seeds to savour, their flavour singing 'freedom, victory' along my tongue.
Who was the Seventh? I never saw him as you would have. I now see with the eyes of the Night-Hawk. Destroying deception mortals seek to hide from eyes that see the sun rise.
'Let us flee, the Crimson Guard is on our heels, ' he told me, and so I followed until we reached the forests edge.
With a smile in his heart I heard the Seventh cry, 'Let me see you grit those teeth! 'Into the fray he went, never to be heard again.
Alone in the forest, Nature came to me. Nature embraced me, helped heal me... now I roam in constant vigilance.
