I Love You. Poem by Gary Hembree

I Love You.

Rating: 4.8

She held me close and tight, 'I love you, ' is what she said.
She held me close and tight, 'Look at me, ' is what she said as tears ran down her face.
I moved her to look into her eyes, 'I love you too.'
I moved her some more to wipe her tears, 'Don't cry.'
And as she begged me and fought with me I said 'Don't cry, pray.'
And in went the final piece to her tomb, and a picture to forever remember her 'Love' for me.

An interesting poem the line about in went the final piece to her tomb is a bit frightening and i cant help but wonder what your thoughts were when you wrote it. Well done

Fine and lofty verse written in persuasive expressions with conviction. Well conceived and nicely brought forth. Thanks for sharing Gary.

I wonder if this poem is written about your mother's love. About whoever or whatever it may be, the poem is touchy! The last two lines are really so! Best wishes, and happy writing!
