I Have Wanted All My Life /To Know The Truth Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Have Wanted All My Life /To Know The Truth

I have wanted all my life
To know the truth
To understand reality
I have given many years
To study and learning
And now I know many things,
And above all
How small all I know is
And how little my understanding is
And how every knowing
Teaches there is more to know
And this true for humanity
No matter how many hard and difficult realities discovered
And thus, near the end of my life
I have disappointment and dissatisfaction
Not only from what I do not know
And will never know
But from what I have learned
That I would rather have never known
Not only from what I know I will never know
But what I have learned
Which is against so much I have hoped for and wanted and believed.
