I Don't Love Thy Neighbor Poem by Randy McClave

I Don't Love Thy Neighbor

Jesus said love your neighbor
No matter who your neighbor might be,
At that command do not labor
Just open your eyes and heart and see.
They might have a different colored skin
They may be a different race,
Unto you they might had committed a sin
Or maybe just standing in the wrong place.
They might be supporting a different political party
Or someone making minimum wage,
They might be healthy and hearty
Or maybe you don't like them because of their age.
They might be someone that you're mad at
They might even be your dreaded ex,
Or they might be someone who is fat
Or someone who enjoys the same sex.
Maybe it is an addict
Or maybe even an immigrant,
Maybe it is someone who you say makes you sick
Or maybe it is someone who is just different.
Maybe it is someone who has cheated
Or someone who has constantly lied,
Or maybe it is someone who has mistreated
Maybe someone who has inadvertently sighed.
It could be someone who is poor or wandering
Or someone who has broke the law,
Maybe it is someone who is squandering
Or that someone who drew that last straw.
Maybe it is an catholic, or maybe a Jew
Or an atheist or a Muslim or another belief,
Maybe it's a different religion than you
Or maybe it's someone's doctrine which brings you grief.
God loves the sinners and even those who con
And even those who are always the first to strike,
Remember, God loves us each and everyone
Even our neighbors, the ones that we don't like.
Love thy neighbor the Bible does say
I do, even though many times they treat me like hell
So, for you and them I do constantly pray
Because, you too are also someone's neighbor as well.
