I Don’t Know Poem by BAYO SALAWU

I Don’t Know

“I have my fishhook ready
The stream and the sea are there
And I’m ready to dive for fish
But I don’t know
If fortunes will laugh at me today”

“I have my famished farm to irrigate
And my damp grains to sun-dry
But I don’t know
Whether the rain will weep
Or the sun will smile”

“I have my vehicle full loaded
My people, their lives and luggage
And I’m set to clutch and brake
But I don’t know
Whether the car will crash
Or the road will revolt”

I too have my lyric lines to lay
My thrilled thoughts to tell
And my worthy words to write
But I don’t know
If they will be known to world
