I Am Them Poem by Anisa Tara

I Am Them

Rating: 5.0

I am my father's daughter,
I am my mother's child.
I wear his body like a sleeve,
Her intellect in my smile.

His concerns I bear daily,
Her musings are free in my mind.
His reasons slip off my tongue,
Her passion in me wild.

My father in his depression,
My mother her anxious soul.
His longing deep within me,
Her piety, cast like a mold.

However much I struggle,
The more I've come to realize.
That I will always be my father's daughter,
And forever my mother's child.
