Treasure Island

Gert Strydom

(03 April 1964 / Johannesburg, South Africa)

I am not the person

I am not the person
that You have destined me to be
and eagerly I want to walk on the right way,
do and say the right things
but before I can find myself
I do fail You my God
and then I wonder where to start again?

Evocative poem and engaging. Good narrative quality and an honest write. When I saw the surname Strydom, I knew that you had to be South-African. Dit is mos net in Suid-Afrika waar n mens Strydom's kry. Pragtige gedig, het dit baie geniet. (Report) Reply
