I Am Death Poem by B.M Lewis

I Am Death

I am black; I am red. I'm every color without color. I live with you, and I live with your neighbor. I have blonde hair and blue eyes. I have red hair and green eyes. I appear completely innocent and naïve. I come without warning, but I never leave. I'm always around the corner. I am a nefarious danger; everyone should be scared. Nobody worries until I stare them in the face. I'm in the hospital with the unhealthy newborns. I am with the broken girl and her bloody knife. I am dark; I am somber. I'm cold like ice and hot as fire. I am everywhere, and I surround everyone with darkness. Because of my darkness, I have no family, and I have no friends. I am forever alone. I leave nightmares, and I take away happiness. I bring tears and misery. I bring physical pain as well as emotional pain. I am the reason for sad faces and the screams. I am the reason families have those cathartic moments. I have heard a million piercing screams of victims while seeing the sanguine blood, and I have felt the evil laughs. Before I came around, life was happier, and the children could laugh. Now they sit in a pool of dark wondering where the light went. I didn't ask to be this person that I am. It just happened. I have been around from the beginning. I wish I could change the way I hurt people, but I can't change who I am. You can't quell pain; it doesn't work like that. I will forever be this cold-hearted monster. I will forever cut the hearts out of millions of innocent people. I am death; I will forever be death.
