How Could I? Poem by Eldon M Thomas

Lord how could I ever doubt you?
I know you personally, I don't just know about you!

You are the God of the universe
Every poem that I have written you helped me with every verse

You've delivered me from the curse
You're leading me on the path of righteousness so that my life won't get any worse

So Lord forgive me for my doubt
Touch my lips so that only righteous things come out of my mouth

Help me to walk by faith
And to be patient and learn how to wait

Help me to trust you with my whole heart
Bringing to remembrance how you've been with me on this long journey from the very start!

You've washed me and made me clean
You gave me better dreams
You're helping me walk by faith because things aren't always what they seem

You've given me courage so that I don't fear
When I seem to weaken you let me know that you're there

You're my strength for this burden I must bear
You show interest in my life because you really care

So I thank you Lord God for being there for me
And despite the times that I doubted you still loved me
Thank you Lord for your grace and mercy
