God's Armor Poem by Eldon M Thomas

Lord I thank you for your word that is true
Your word that is right

A lamp for my feet
My guiding light

My fire that burns eternally bright
My sword of the spirit that wins every fight

That along with my shield of faith
That shields me from the devil's arrows and temptation's weight

I thank you for your belt of truth
That exposes lies straight down to their roots

I thank you for the breastplate of righteousness
That helps me to be good and pass every test

Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people
Your righteousness leads me in the right direction so sin won't always make me stumble

I thank you for your helmet of salvation
That is helping me to cast down these wicked imaginations

So now I'm prepared to preach the Gospel of peace
Now the Kingdom of God is within everyone's reach!
