How Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

How

Rating: 5.0

How do you keep
Bad thoughts at bay
When your angry and confused
At the end of the day

How do you stop
From saying hurtful things
When you know deep down
The pain they will bring

How can you not
Harden your heart
When your the object of scorn
At the very start

How do you let go
Not let it mean a thing
When the attacks come
Again and again

How do you do
Those special things
That keep you going
Keep you sane

You suck it all in
Put it in the back of your brain
You know that tomorrow
It might not be the same

That is a problem that has bothered me my whole life. I don't want to be a mean person but I don't like being the mean people's target either, but anger only hurts me with a load of bitterness to add to the mess at the back of my brain. Great write.

How many times I've asked myself these things; thanks for putting it so wonderfully into words.
