Home Coming Poem by louis rams

Home Coming

Rating: 5.0

She sat in a darkened room waiting to see a flicker of light
Or to hear his footsteps.
Longing to put her head on his lap and forget all the days events
She wanted to be taken out to eat and given a treat.
The minutes dragged by like hours and still no sound.
They had met when they were very young and it was love at first sight.
Then she heard those familiar footsteps and she jumped with joy
Her heart raced faster as the steps got closer and the key
Going into the lock.
The look in his eyes when he saw her gave her such a thrill.
As he entered saying: "hey baby I'm home "
As she ran and jumped into his arms.
this is the life of a dog and her master "
