History Of Sylhet Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

History Of Sylhet

I wonder how could they divide
And leave it to settle
In a huff
Without understanding geography, polity,
Society, region,
Cartography, map and mapping
Divided they just
For sitting on chair
Without consulting communities, ethnic groups,
Without considering linguistic stocks
Leaving the parts of the vast stretch of land
Into the hands of the fanatics, sectarian people
And how could one expect justice from them
Who were blind to their faith and belief?

How can history be distorted in such a way,
The maps be changed, lands be captured,
Demography fiddled in and muddled with
Changing the data and statistics,
Driving the natives away,
Having been made bereft of their rights
And they fleeing to,
Finding shelter from,
Altering the ethnic count and records
Of the indigenous people of Sylhet
Which was but a folly
Whatever say you in this context
As they cannot rule over who are not able enough?
