Helping Poem by Randy McClave

Helping

If I did a favor for you
I would not expect one in return,
If I did I'd be waiting until I was old and blue
That one true fact about you I did learn.
If I had loaned you a dollar
I would never expect to get it back,
About its return I would not scream or holler
Honor and pride I do not lack.
If you had ever needed me for my assistance
Of course I would always be there,
Never for help in me would you find resistance
For you I truly do care.
If you needed to borrow any of my things
Of course I would happily say yes,
And of course there would be no attached strings
And there would also be no worries or stress.
I have gave you help and support and my belief
Just because of friendship, kindness and love,
But, then I felt a sadness and grief
You were ashamed and told no one who I was.
I will not ever ask you for a favor
Because of what sometimes the fruit favor produces,
Sometimes it's just a bitter flavor
And I don't want to hear your lies or excuses.
