Heaven Must Be A Lonely Place Poem by Derek Brendish

Heaven Must Be A Lonely Place

In a wilderness of doom, promises of grace
Where leaden skies enfetter a land of gold
Creation flickers with words bright and bold
‘HEAVEN MUST BE A LONELY PLACE'

All for few moments, but we're running a race
Where love betrays and shatters our dreams
It's written all over in bright radiant beams
‘HEAVEN MUST BE A LONELY PLACE'

Each for oneself, lusts for a life so base
Where blood thins and vows are broken
Sunsets ain't pretty as horizons darken
‘HEAVEN MUST BE A LONELY PLACE'

Lonely souls, villainy tarnishes every face
Where humanity reeks of selfish solipsism
‘Love your neighbour as yourself? ' - absurdism!
‘HEAVEN MUST BE A LONELY PLACE'

Turning wicked, bringing on disgrace
Forgetting our upbringing, now all is fair
Hell is o'ercrowded as we're all heading there
‘HEAVEN REALLY MUST BE A LONELY PLACE'
