Hazel Eyes Poem by Victoria Cooper

Hazel Eyes

These hazel eyes are the windows into my soul.
My indifference as well as my smile are but a mask, hiding my true self.
It is at first glance you make your judgments, but look into my hazel eyes and see me, the real me. My smile says that I am happy, but my eyes tell a different story.
They tell a story of sadness, agony, and despair.
However, they also tell a story of hope. Hope in the fact that what the future has to offer, will be enough to extinguish the flames of agony that allude me.
It is not just hope, it's also happiness. But full happiness will never come until I can leave this world of hurt and join with God in his kingdom.
No one will ever truly know who I am, not until they look beyond my hazel eyes.
