Halloween Night Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Halloween Night

Rating: 5.0

The night is dark and dreary
The moon's glow is masked by
suffocating clouds of uncertainty...
Be wary of things that refuse to die

Scary thoughts are meddling and haunting
at the end of October…what to do?
Creaking sounds heard on the porch steps
Skeletons and bed sheet ghosts shout boo!

A tiny fairy with a yellow star tipped wand
Is accompanied a spaceman named Bud
Persuasively shouting in unison…Trick or Treat!
A far cry from screams that curdle blood

Sweet treats of candy are what they desire
Their costume attire attests to the plan
Expectantly they extend an open sack
Happily receiving delights from a friendly hand

The long stream of beggars begins to dwindle
Halloween excitement is fading and diminishing
Small children are getting very tired and weary
The flame within the Jack-O-Lantern is extinguishing
