Hail To Embers Poem by illinois haze

Hail To Embers

For once I had nothing to say
no words of wisdom
nothing clever to convey
silence won a round
this was the last night
and everyone was moving out
The grass to the crowd was cold
adjust your eyes girl
a whsper among souls
I stood straight
I held my own
the orange glow
washed her face
she had as seat saved
i was not alone
Tears were shed
thanks with smiles
all among the overwhelming strength
of pride from the fire
she stared like a moth
i was captivated
without words
i had a poets thoughts
but nothing compared to her
rival beauties in my reach
both ahd potential to burn
and create ashes when they leave
we got so close
close enough to touch
subtle eyes
breeched a subtle mind
the heat was all to much
she asked me to follow
she had me down
the fire beckoned my attenetion
along with the scattering crowd
i could not deny
my burning freind
was left to die
the night was born in flames
but it is not how it shall end
i locked eyes with my closes friends
took a breath and then took her hand
a sleepless night
the last night
of this get away
the fire grew dim
but the heat stayed with her smile
her star bright face
I'm fine now
I'm content i know
the fire brought about dreams
and beautiful ghost
ghosts that came to life
as she came into view
in her words lie everything
and with that everything is my muse

The fire brought about dreams and beautiful ghost, ghost that came to life as she came into view. That is just one facet of the beautiful jewel that this poem is!
