Haiku #091 (A Wagon Tale In Haiku Stanzas) Poem by Carolyn Brunelle

Haiku #091 (A Wagon Tale In Haiku Stanzas)

The wagon broke down;
rain falls quite hard on the plains
in Spain's wet season.

Fearful of the floods
coming through in a flash, had
to run for our lives

But not to worry
we're stronger than these storms, we'll
fix it all up good.

New day on new wheels
and we're movin' again; can't
sit still for too long.

Got miles to go yet
baby's due anytime now;
town ahead can help.

Baby Jane arrived
no problems so far; good lord
blessing us just fine.

Our trip ends today;
left our old life behind us
to find a new one.

Struggled something fierce
but we made it through; it's been
worth it after all.

Rich soils for planting;
plenty of time before fall
brings on first winter.

We are so grateful
we left when we did, rains were
better than the heat.
