Hadrian's Wall Poem by NAMAN SEHGAL

Hadrian's Wall

An battle within, a soul half foul,
An angel looking out, A devil on the prowl,
Whom to trust, whom to doubt,
It's all inside, barely comes out.

The scars on the soul, clout after clout,
The thirst for content, yet a face so proud.
The confidence of a king, eyes red as a trout,
Dreams as bright as thunder, steering through clouds.

What's right or wrong, doubt after doubt,
Should be black or white, yet something different comes out.
You think you know them well, you feel this is all,
Yet more than you can see, dwells on the other side of the wall.

A different side, hiding within our thoughts,
Chained by our conscience, and morals of all sorts.
Cold and dark, fueled by greed and wants,
It wants to come out, but is bounded by a lot of locks.

When I let it, it seldom come out,
It's my other side, scares a lot without a doubt.
It's cold and mean, and doesn't like to bow down,
It feeds on other people and breaks them down.

Everyday it lurks, in plain sight,
It's like I'm Dr. Jekyll and he's Mr. Hyde.
I would have been a different person, had I shown it more daylight,
But then I keep it in, for the sake of everyones plight.

Life shows you phases, dim and bright
Some are managed by Jekyll and the others by Hyde.
This blunt truth, applies to us all,
because within us all there a Hadrian's wall.
