Grieve Not, O Heart. Poem by Om Chawla

Grieve Not, O Heart.

Rating: 5.0

Grieve not, O heart, for life is not lost
Life- just like a day,
That dawns at the horizon in the East
And sets at the horizon in the West
Horizon- an ever receding illusion,
For Sun was there, before emergence
At the horizon, only we could not see
It will be there, after it sets
At the horizon, but we would not see
Grieve not O heart, for Self is not lost
It was there before its worldly birth
And will be there after this form ceases to be;
It's only parting at, the end of a journey.
Rejoice in memories of companionship,
Memories that this journey blessed
For every journey ends
for new one to begin
When there would new co travelers be;
Just like new lands are illumined,
Beyond the horizon, when here darkness be.
Grieve not O heart, cherish his memories,
And wish him well,
Loss of companionship, yes there is,
'cause embarked on new journey
Erstwhile companion is.
Grieve not O heart,
Bless him in peace
Bless him in peace.

Excellent write, life is indeed like a day...where the sun rises and sets in routine cycle!

Your thoughts here about the passing of Valerie's loved one is very touching. Death is a door that all must enter through. We don't know how we will die but we can know how to live. She will meet him again some day. That hope will take her through. Amen.

How truthful and beautiful you spoke my friend, thank you for share! Grieve not O heart, for Self is not lost It was there before its worldly birth And will be there after this form ceases to be; It's only parting at the end of a journey. How right you are yet we can't live without the grief, even if dear memory of lost ones would live inside the heart, a hand to hold and a warm hug forever lost to be. I think we grief for ourselves rather than for those who are dead.

Grieve not, for life is not lost, the journey is not over! From where we have come, to there we shall go. No change... no loss... co travellers may depart only to be joined by a new team... Beautifully put Sir. Definitely these words of consolation will serve as a cooling balm to Valerie!
