Good Advice Poem by Sean Michael Bishop

Good Advice

Rating: 4.5

Me: I am to the point in my life where I should be (growing) out of this sort of stuff

Brittney: Maybe, but I think this is the time where we will make more mistakes than ever before because we are on our on our own as adults now.

______

Here we are all alone.
Diploma in hand and moving on to bigger, better things
Here we are lying prone.
We want to eat the world, not just have tastings

Now we are here all grown up.
We stand together as just another young adult.
Not like a paper bag, but a plastic cup
As we stand together entwined like a cult

Class of the future
As we move on, we grow
Every year we move further
Now we must fall down, stand up and just go.

Every day is a new day
A new bruise, a scraped knee, a new lesson
Never listen to the bad things they say
Because in the end the pain will lessen

United together for the fight of our lives
We are never alone, we will always be bonded
In harmony and togetherness courage thrives
With our mistake, the future has absconded

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One day when I was down Brittney and I had this conversation. We have been friends since middle school, and she has always been so wise. This is for any graduate who looks at the world and thinks that they are falling more than rising. Every time you fall you learn something when you pick yourself back up.
