Giving Up Poem by Hope Wallin

Not running away from the pain,
I will firmly stand my ground.
I know it will be hard,
And I know that I may fail.
But I cannot let go,
For by letting go, I'm giving up.
Giving up on any hope for me.
Giving up on all the promises I've made.
Giving up on moving on.
I won't ever forget him,
Of that fact, I am sure.
Nor do I even want to.
Only time will heal the wounds,
In my fragile, shattered heart.
I will never be whole again,
Will never be the girl I once was.
But that is something I must adjust to.
I would rather be alone and happy,
Than hurting deep inside,
Where I cannot ever be fixed.
Much like I feel right now.
