Give Me A Rain-Spattered Window Poem by Jackie Gerhardy

Give Me A Rain-Spattered Window

Give me a rain-spattered window
Of storm and like sound
Give me tears of clear droplets
Those that will never get me down.
Let the gales sing me to sleep
And the storm end at noon
So the sun will be there to guide me
Back to someone I once knew.

Give me the words that are right
When something is wrong
I ask of this weakly
Because my pride is too strong.
Give me those rain-spattered windows
And see my reflection in the pane
Always know when I am hurting
And be besides me again.
