Gifts Poem by Amanda Lukas

Gifts

This morning,
a woman I'd never met smiled at me,
a driver let me in
rather than cutting me off,
a customer gave me a hug
for no apparent reason,
and a man whom
I'd briefly spoken on the phone with
brought me a box of chocolates.
Needless to say,
a fine day in the life of me.

Today, I vowed
never to be annoyed
when I let somebody in,
smile at a stranger,
buy unnecessary gifts at random,
or give somebody a loving hug.

My gifts have been returned.

Those are lovely thoughts Amanda, how I wish more people were more free with their gifts too, like smiles, touching, caring, surprising, helping, all the nice things in life, every day would be so much happier for everybody. A lovely thoughful poem and a lovely read too. Meaningful and a pleasure to receive. Love Ernestine XXX
