The giant freshwater stingray,
One of the largest fish there be,
Over a thousand pounds to weigh,
And quite an odd shaped fish to see.
Its fins give it a disc like form
And slightly longer than is wide,
Six foot diameter the norm.
On river bottoms it does hide.
It can sport a nine foot long tail
Which does include a stinging spine.
Not aggressive but will impale
Threats by accident or design.
The threats include the human sort
Who hunt the ray for food and sport.
