Getting A Nasty Back Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Getting A Nasty Back

Pushed to the edge.
Dreading an act that has to be,
Understood to not mistake...
A getting of a nasty back.
The way it was done to receive.

Pushed to the edge.
Clinging on the ledge,
Of forgiving those wicked.
Yet have had enough of it.
With them to perceive,
Such misdeeds are accepted.
And not to expect,
A returning of that...
Nasty back to get.

People know what they do,
To others to do evil.
But don't expect,
A getting that nasty to them back.

People choose to do,
Unto others what they please.
Then deny this choice to have made,
Was no more than a mistake.
Misunderstood as an intention.
Like other intentions,
Meant and done to bring attention.

The 'enough to have had it ones',
Running out of patience.
And tolerance to welcome,
Thoughtlessness and more of it to get.
With a turning of cheeks,
On both butts and faces...
Biting lips and gritting teeth.
Gone.
No more is that sincerity to give.
Accompanied by sickening understanding.
And forgiveness expected,
Given to get.

When one like this,
Has been pushed to the edge.
Look out above and below,
For that getting of a nasty back.
From whichever direction,
It comes shown to have it known.
