From The Balcony Poem by Heather Burns

From The Balcony

Rating: 5.0

standing on the balcony
looking down the garden unkept
blossoms fading-wilting

crying for attention
weary from neglect
once so alive- thriving

full of life - passionate
brilliant colors
flourishing

blowing in the wind
a garden of happiness
full of laughter

the gardener touched his flowers
with tender loving care

looking from the balcony
the gardener is no longer there.

My favourite lines: standing on the balcony looking down the garden unkept blossoms fading-wilting As the poet stands at the balcony and views the beauty of life as it 'blossoms'. the poet continues to appreciate the brilliant colours, which are the varieties of life and makes life interesting. However in the last stanza, we are told how suddenly, all these varieties and colourful imagery disappears. If interpreted literally too, it makes a perfect poem with nicely captured scenes. Well written!
