Footwear Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Footwear

Footwear

Deep in heart
I know of
Having same
Root and base.

"Moccasin, "
Is "Giveh! "

I wore the latter and
Used it for car's plate…

I knew what to do
And of course, surely, do.

I resist and rebel
As did Che and Jesus.

I am like the fish that
Heads for home
Filled with eggs
Goes against, stream.

If the fish knows, or not
There is feeling inside.

Can hear angels' voice,
Enjoy this opera…

Feel chained to proud song:
"I was born and will live
As free as are birds,
Even if killed or caged! "

The Prairie Cree
Calls his shoe: "Moccasin."

My plain is other
And footwear is Giveh.,

Giveh and Moccasin,
Are same as us, cousins.
