Fleeting Memories Poem by Chelsea Palma

Fleeting Memories

Your lips against mine
Our hands as we touched each other
Sent tingles all through my spine
My split second lover

I had loved you for eternity
I gave you my heart and soul
But your love for me was only momentary
And left me falling through the depths of a black hole

Fleeting glimpses of your face
Memories I wish I could erase
You said you love the chase
But you left without a trace

My love for you eternal
Your love ephemeral

You beat my love 'til it was broken
Left no words unspoken
You spat upon my face like I was trash
With your iron first and words of stone you smash

You played around like it was a game
Like a little kid excited by a flame
A wild animal you just had to tame
But you ended up in shame

Momentary lapses back into the past
Of my split second lover
The way your cheeks lit up when you were embarrassed
Now they darken in contrast...
