Fishing For A Smile... Poem by Jay AndersonTaylor

Fishing For A Smile...

Never had I seen so much water before in my life?

The day before our trip I barley slept... Finally

we get there and now he says to me, 'Hold it firm

and now throw it back and now forward as hard as

you can.' and with that? I cast my first line...

It was my first fishing trip; you see in the inner

city were we lived? There was no place to fish and

my dad planned this trip for nearly a whole year.

My line now out in the water for the first time...

I asked him how much longer before I would get my first bite?

With that he looked at me and took a deep breath

and softly he said, 'Son I'm not sure... But if

takes all day? It will be well worth it just to

see that smile on your face.'
