Fateful Poem by Shruti Goswami

Fateful

That night
Your touch felt
Oh so stranger-ly
Known you, I have
Like childhood memories
But your flesh
As it sank in me
Through the open window
I could see
The night grew young
Your desires
Pulsating within me
Like I were
Still a stranger
And you happened to
Chance upon me
Kissing me
With your eyes
Now the warm, moist mouth
Smelling cigarettes
And the cognac
Had cast its spell.
Your smell
Like a forest wild
Had made me
Lose my heart and mind
Years after
That chanced encounter
And your throbbing body
Against mine
Caused a déjà vu
While the night saw
Us create
A river of wine.
I wanted you
To be mine.
How do I tell you?
That I still want
Today’s new stranger
Rough and coarse and wild
To conquer
All that your body can
All that it did
That one fateful night.
