Farewell

Here is the time when flowers lose petal
And others have to bloom
Here comes the time when the grass must be cut
And the mist lifts soon

Here I stand before you,
A person I barely know
Though crying I do for people I love
Here is my affection I couldn’t help but show

Farewell faraway friend
Farewell to you I only but met
Goodbye to the times we never spoke
Our hearts cry before the day is set

My goodbye is never farewell
And who am I to feel this sad
We never spoke, same interests we never felt
I’m sad for the friend I never had

Goodbye old place, goodbye my friend
A place I saw from a distance so far
Seeing you leave makes little difference
Though deep inside my heart is scarred

Here I stand before you
A person I barely know
This time I cry for a person I wish to ever love
Holding my affection another time I must show

Here is the time when roads slowly part
And others come together
Here comes the time when birds fly away
Leaving last thought in a falling feather

 Farewell my friend
Farewell for now
Farewell my closest friend I never knew
Goodbye my friend
A sadness I feel, yet disavow
Goodbye my closest friend
Farewell right here,
Farewell for now

Poem of the Day

poet Robert William Service

Just Home and Love! the words are small
Four little letters unto each;
And yet you will not find in all
The wide and gracious range of speech
Two more so tenderly complete:
