Fallen Stars Don'T Scream Poem by paul righetti

Fallen Stars Don'T Scream

The hurt in your eyes knows my sympathy
But the impressions I gained have departed.
I grasp your sorrow but it drains my heart
And leaves my emotions retarded.
My opinion was rendered with your welfare intended
But too late for your course had been charted.

The bitterness inside remains silent
But even so I comprehend your diction.
The answers you seek are quietly close
Though cloaked in the shadows of fiction.
Now feelings that glimmered have risen and simmered
And you’re faced with unwelcome eviction.

The stars that cried, reside –
On a love that was stillborn.
The stars that fell, farewell –
To a heart that is still warm.

Your heart is clenched in a fist of tears
And the stillness continues to shatter.
Revenge may be sweet but friendship finds you
Twisted between former and latter.
Because she clipped your wings and though the pain still stings
You’ve got to decide whose feelings matter.

Can you realise you provide the answers
Though your decisions will find you afraid.
There is no short-cut where love is concerned
Only splashes where it never stayed.
It attacks the senses and dulls the defences
Until another maneouevre is made.

The truth when told, is cold –
And the stars that fell are still.
The love you leave, still grieves –
And I feel it always will.

A dash of time will slowly heal your wounds -
Involvement will dislodge a staggered heart.
The pitfalls of love are tenderly spaced –
Most occur before you even start.
So reserve your evasion for now’s the occasion
To commence another course to chart.

Though tears that flow, disclose –
Ruined remnants of a dream.
Life will progress, unless –
The fallen stars begin to scream.
