Somebody Told Me Poem by paul righetti

Somebody Told Me

Somebody told me late last night
You were sneakin’ out in the mornin’
Somebody told me late last night
You were creepin’ out with the lawman
Somebody told me late last night
Your eyes were ripped and reckless
and your heart was taut and tight
Somebody told me late last night -
you were leavin’

Somebody told me late last night
You been snoopin’ ‘bout in the cellar
Somebody told me late last night
You were movin’ out to the Alice
Somebody told me late last night
Your soul was soft and shiny
and your smile was wet and white
Somebody told you late last night –
you ain’t leaving

Somebody told me later on
You were mummified when they found you
Somebody told me later on
You were still alive when they bound you
Somebody told me later on
Your face was full of flowers
but your irises were gone
Somebody told me later on –
you were screamin’

Somebody told me late last night
Somebody told me late last night you were leavin’
Somebody told me late last night
Somebody told me late last night you were screamin
Somebody told me later on……heh! heh!
Somebody told me later on –
but I knew that.
