Fable-3 Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Fable-3

Rating: 5.0

Atop a big tree lived a male bird,
his wife and nestlings.
One day the mother bird
left the nest for foraging.
The male bird saw a hunter,
almost ready to focus his arrow,
looked up to fly,
but spotted a hawk
hovering in the sky.
He was between scylla and charybdis,
shocked and puzzled,
totally surrendered, prayed God to
save his family from the imminent danger.
God came to his rescue,
a poisonous snake emerged from hole,
bit the archer, inflicted pain,
his aim was lost and the arrow took
the life of hawk,
the bird's predicament was gone.
Similarly in the Epic Mahabharat,
Dushashan started pulling
one end of the saree of Draupadi
to strip her in the full court of Duryodhan.
As all seniors were ineffective to save,
she prayed to Lord Krishna,
who provided unlimited supply of cloth
to her saree,
Dushashan was tired, failed to disrobe her
and the Lord saved her from humiliation,
a clean heart,
single minded devotion
rain Lord's grace on any one.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Lord's door remains open when all other doors are closed.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

" between scylla and charybdis, " is a fantastic expression, much effective a metaphor. And the analogy between the predicament of the bird and Drowpadi is equally beautiful.5 *s
