Eyes Of Pain Poem by Sarah Mendly

Eyes Of Pain

Rating: 5.0

As the heart shudders towards another
You seem content with your lover
And as the days begin to tumble
My words appear to crumble
For my nights seem lonely when we're together
Oh how I wish the here and now lived forever.

But life trickles slowly on
And no one can tell me where this blood has come from?
Is it my eyes that deliver my pain?
Could it be my memories that keep me sane?

For my hands cross like the crucifix empowers
Tell me on my grave, would you bring me flowers?
Would you kill this tingle in my heart?
And slaughter the man that made it start?

My mind seems to think not
As my fingertips have appeared to have forgot
For the silhouette of your face has disappeared
But what is life if I have not feared?
What is truth if I do not know?
'Cause the answers are at the places I do not go!

For the images of that cross shines on
And the love that is stable seems to have gone
'Cause I have mistaken the meaning of eyes
For as I sing to the nightingale, I don't hear it's cries.

And my rose is dying without it's thorn
As my grave is shallow to that which I was born
For my veins are blackened from the soil on the ground
And as my heart is once again taken over, I make no sound.

'Cause I have been murdered by the dagger poisoned by love
And so I shall return to the purity that lives above.

For that which bore me, has ridden me...nothing left to be
And now my eyes deliver the pain that I see
And now my eyes deliver the pain that I see.
