Everyone Including You Poem by Sherri Vogel

Everyone Including You

Why don't you stop, look, analyze maybe then you'll see
When you try to hurt others you wind up unhappy.
Take for an example the ex who chose to leave
Did you really think you'd hurt her
Is that what you believed.
You maxed out the credit card after she said we are thru
Thought that she'd take care of it she didn't it hurt you.
She requested that you pay it off wasn't getting anywhere
So she took you to court and solved the problem there.
Then was it revenge or hurt feelings on your part
You met another girl and must have stole her heart.
Guess you didn't use protection 'cause she called you one day
To say that she was pregnant a baby's on the way.
The news must have been difficult you blamed it all on her
Really irresponsible and immature you were.
All through her pregnancy you avoided her and yet
When baby Dylan came along you thought she'd forgive you and forget.
Guess you thought you'd hurt her when on her you laid the blame
Must have hurt a lot when she gave him her last name.
Then tragically a sad event occurred in March 2001
Your dad collapsed of a stroke his life on earth was done.
I thought if anything would change you maybe that just might
But guess what I was wrong too bad I wasn't right.
Anger just consumed you your mom met another man
You thought that you'd get back at her any way you can.
For weeks you didn't speak with her moved in with a friend
Eventually joined the Army will it ever end?
Will you ever realize all the hurtful things you do
Intending to hurt others wind up hurting you?
Your leaving was a secret you announced it on the air
Said you joined the Army it would be your last day there.
Now it's been two years you regret and want out
But you signed a six year contract guess you didn't think about
What happens if I sign and want out in a year or two
Guess that selfish way you chose to leave you never thought it through.
I heard you came back this Christmas and called to see your son
His mother wouldn't let you who's hurting you're the one.
Chances are in February you'll be shipped off to Iraq
To go fight in a war you might never make it back.
It's sad and unfortunate the hurtful things you do
Wind up hurting everyone
'Everyone Including You.'
