Englishman In Greece Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Englishman In Greece

Rating: 5.0

In Autumn of his life
Sits in his courtyard in Athens
Yard surrounded by bushes
With his three cats
Enjoying splendour of the evening.

Thinks of his homeland
England's emerald Isle set in turquoise sea
Blue bell woods, wildlife and rain
Majestic countryside beyond compare
And misses British savoury pies.

Thoughts takes him back to childhood
Sitting with parents and older brother John
With Lucy the spaniel petted by mum
Knock on the door and blind Grandad enters
Love so precious abides for the family.

Lord Mike, father and grandfather, smiles
Heart British and Greek
Christian soul loved by family and friends
Favourite singer Roy Orbison
And readily follows teaching of Jesus Christ.
