Englishman Living In Greece Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Englishman Living In Greece

(for Mike Selley)

Sitting at peace in Autumn of life reading a book
Sunbathed courtyard on Isle of Aeginna, early evening
With three cats, beloved friends, for company.
Thoughts on England, emerald Isle set within turquoise sea
With bluebell woods, wildlife, countryside beyond compare
Remembering childhood with brother John and loving parents
Family spaniel called Lucy and blind grandfather next door
Who told him of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Found life's purpose as musician and composer
Fan of American star Roy Orbison with unique voice.
Now a grandfather he sighs, closes eyes, happy, relaxed
Heart half English and Greek living content one day at a time
Thankful for greatest blessings, precious son and daughter
Knowing he will be reunited with lost loved ones in Heaven.
