Elephant In The Room Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Elephant In The Room

What you know about the elephant in the room?
I can tell you about the elephant in the room
Undernourished and undesirable to the eye
Standing tall holding their head up high
No crime against them can ever crucify
A beautiful spirit so indestructible

When you know what you know
The direction is clear
When you know what you know
A change is near

Most powerful of them all
Who have been held within their thrall
Don't trade in your crown for chains or shackles
Love is a religion the world does not live by
Why do their gods teach them to hate?
Come out of the grave that was dug for you
Free to see life that was always promised
Tomorrows weather look much better than yesterday
There maybe pressure on your shoulders
but the greatest challenges were made for a soldier
who was made to go to war for a purpose
because the fight is never over

When You know what you know
the direction is clear

I'm speaking these words to encourage a soul
who they tried to weaken and make feel unwhole
A bullet is the tongue that will graze the heart
with eyes so full of fire that fuels the agenda
Regardless of how it's packaged, A lie is still a lie
and the media sell the masses candy to consume
what a child usually can't deny
Lets tackle the ugly truth face to face
break down all barriers for equality
Doesn't every life matter?
When we gonna do better?
It's worth a try
When we gonna do better?
As the world cry
there's so much disconnect, so much disharmony
let us extend a hand, show kindness and respect
love cure humanity of diseases which infects

When you know what you know
when we gonna do better?
When you know what you know
when we gonna do better?
When you know what you know
Yes, Yes
We should strive to be better
