Eighteen Steps
I took a note of her. First step.
I let her know it. Second step.
Not turned down. Third step.
I hinted my love. Fourth step.
It was approved of. Fifth step.
I wrote indirect comments and then
Direct. Sixth and seventh steps.
Gifts taken. Eighth step.
I elicited a few nods. Ninth step.
No further steps has she laid down
For me to climb on.
I stay put, hoping enthusing...
