Ecclesia nos sumus
We are the church. Yes
Yep, indeed, without us
The parishioners, there ain't no church
Just empty seats and a hollow parish
We hire the holy priest and we can fire him too
We hire the pastor and the vicar
However, we can choose not to follow
Any preacher who is an obvious swaggerer
Ecclesia nos sumus
Yes, indeed, without us
The churchgoers, if there is no service
There is also no celebrant and no mass
There's no holy bread and no money
There's no blessing and no sympathy
Please love our brothers and sisters
Welcome and religiously take care of us
As God loves us under the sky surfeited with stars.
