Drought Forecast Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

There was drought forecast
Areas threatened were very vast
Animals were dying fast
The ponds had turned dry with no more to last

Not enough of rainfall was last year
The real bad scene was feared
Human beings were of course worried
But fodder for animals was to be ferried

Yes it was not man made disaster
Being near to desert, it always looms near
Scant rain fall makes lot more difficult
Water is stored in reservoirs already built

I believe in natural sign
We got to adjust and resign
No one can help in big way
Yet we can not run away from scary scene too

Neither is it question of blind faith
Nor one sided opinion for person or both
I shall not glorify or take opportunity
But yes he was guided by wishes of almighty

When dark clouds were looming large
Person was closing in chamber to sit in isolation stage
It was meant to pray for showering rain in those scary areas
It was simple urge from pure heart and also pleas

It was to be simple mediation attempt
The response was to be very prompt
He was heard for his sincere appeal
All those areas received rainfall in real

All ponds were full in the capacity
It was heaviest rainfall in recent vicinity
Animal had always looked at the sky
Poor peasants too was asking, why
