Drinking In The Air Poem by Brian Kilpatrick

Drinking In The Air

Down by the river
I spend my time drinking
Drinking in the air
Most of the time I am just hoping
That I will catch that scent of you
By the river in the air

Down by the river
Whispers in my ear
All of those yesterdays
Just drifted into years
Isn’t it funny how all of our
Yesterdays are so full of tears

Down by the river
Where we use to hold hands
I swear can see your face
Other than my memory
There is no way to get back
To the promised land
