Dream Chaser Poem by Anthony Spiros Mcgilvra

Dream Chaser

pistol to my head
finger on the trigger
time to eat lead
for breakfast lunch and dinner
click goes the gun
boom goes my brains
its not all that fun
when you're going insane
i fall to the ground
blood splattered like rain
thud is the sound
the usual pain
i fall asleep
my other dimension
I'm in it to deep
Ive lost all connections
no gun in there
no bullet to load
just me in the air
an endless road
in here I'm serene
there's room to breath
I'm alive in my dreams
i never want to leave
ignorance is bliss
let the world pass me by
i doubt ill be missed
and i wont care why
its too good to last
I'm sharply awoken
its gone in a flash
my hearts still broken
the guns in my hand
a bullet on the table
my demons in command
he's slain my angel
i try to walk away
but all my paths bring me back
to this never ending highway
this cycle has me trapped
i load the gun
and replay the scene
cuz there's no where to run
and i miss my dreams
click goes the trigger
bang goes my head
flowing crimson rivers
and things left unsaid
i sink into silence
its where i belong
no need for guidance
no need to be strong
as soon as its here
the moment is gone
plunged back into fear
and everything wrong
back to routine
back where it hurts
away from my dreams
into my hearse
cuz whatever i do
wherever i go
my options are few
and there's bullets to load
