Donkey Shoe Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Donkey Shoe

Donkey shoe

I laugh when go on line
-searching for shoe; donkey's
-I find this:
-"Why horses need shoes but not donkeys? "
-finding it incorrect and funny laugh loudly
-"Both do want."
-"Neither wants! "
-is the game of mankind: "Abusing animals! "

As child of mountainside
-I lived with the beasts
-horse, few, donkeys lot
-we gave both shoes alright

Our village was small with four shops
-Two of them official
-other two normal rooms inside house
-no smith; no master of metal…

The owner would saddle for the town, large village
-if the shoes needed change or repair
-no phone or telegram, only luck
-on reaching could face sign:
-"Is closed…someone died…"
-etc. etc. etc.
-and it meant for minutes, many days

All the time, include a return and make up
-could be waste, great loss

Nobody knew of man's return
-stories, accidents, incidents,
-he'd surface from ash like phoenix

Not all wives were loyal, few were playful
-possibly might have games, and secrets
-sun and moon, nights and days
-could reveal kids, friends
-stories of fun or serious
-some could be dangerous
-shined the indeed friends…
