Donkey And I Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Donkey And I

Donkey and I

Hated but loved him too
-bought him so many bells
-when was in Esfahan
-all golden, brass-made
-he was a good friend
-though moody, strong
-a painting his large head
-Black-white and well-shaped
-big teeth and nostrils long slots
-great his black and huge eyes
My donkey was so wild
-careful too, very kind
On its back was asleep
-we were in la-seili
-and grass high to knee
-it grazed slowly
-jumped over a creek
-but did so smoothly
-that I woke like babies
-inside their cradles.

Donkey, ass and their race
-have always meant insult
-but we are stupid
-proof is in their milk
-they are most human
-go read it for own-self

Talking of my donkey
-I fed lovingly with beetroot
-to observe red-turned tooth
-loved being strong
-champion, exceptional
-dropped me with a kick
-if felt were endangered
-dignity or pride

I must be related
-call me ass and donkey
-I rather be of them
-than being in White House!
