Did you ask as to why,
I go back to my day?
Reminisce all the time,
Keep the present at bay?
The fact that I speak of the days that were ‘gold',
Not live in the present,
Am I growing old! ? !

For the learned have said,
That the past is long dead,
The future's untold,
Only present's to tread!
So should I abide
With the trends that are new?
Not cling to old values,
And share them with few?

Was it so bad?
When things were all simple?
With Phantom and Mandrake,
And Moose J. Bullwinkle?
Biggles and Algy, Ginger and Smyth,
The ‘Five Find-Outers',
Mister Goon and his plight?
Heidi, li'l Lotta, Casper and Spooky,
Sad Sack and Mickey,
Bugs Bunny and Goofy?

‘Ajit', ‘the villain', in the movies of dread,
With ‘Mona', his darling, giggling in bed! !
"‘Prem' naam hai mera",
Another had said,
‘Chopra' with smiles, frightened ladies it's said! !
The worst he could do was,
Stalk Dimple in ‘Bobby',
Lured by the booty of Chintu's dad's lobby!

‘Yezdi' the bike,
Was a 250 cc.
With streamlined silencers,
Both thundering and greasy! !
Once in a while it could buck like a broncho,
Throw you off straight with your helmet and poncho.
Never did we once, though, crib or complain,
We'd pick up the bike,
Drag it slow down the lane.
The process, however,
Was done with a swagger,
Dignity protected,
Not stabbed with a dagger.

So what is so wrong,
Being back in one's head?
Living past moments
While lying in one's bed?
I don't ever hurt you,
I don't make you cry!
I don't ask you questions,
I don't ask you ‘Why? '!
So all I ask of you,
Is to just let me be.
You can wallow your sadness,
Let me giggle my glee! !
