Devotion Poem by Ellen Rose Guilaran

Devotion

ChLorine water travels down, from vacant gaps where visions should be
For yoU stabbed me on the front, on something you Can't see
Something thAt rhymeS with 'devotion'

Maybe it's the sign
Maybe this is the last time
I let it all go
Because my feelings will linger
While you are far away, more longer

I stay and go back and forth
Like waves crashing on the seawall
But just that, you had to be strong
Too strong that I can't get to you at all

Same issues, play on repeat
I keep notes, you keep counts
Could we even survive longer
When we always welcome defeat?

Chlorine water travels down, where life should've been
But you left me dead, every day was on survival
And finally, I died without your permission

I stay for the fun and happy
You had to pretend everything was
But when I thought it was perfect sunny skies
All over you were pitch-black storms

Maybe it's the sign
Maybe we have to stop and go
We can't park on a busy highway
Time's up, problem starts with my way

Maybe it's the sign
Maybe this is the last time
I let it all go
Because mt feelings will linger
While you are no longer there
